The Law of Attraction: Is Action Necessary?

by Rhonda Ryder on May 3, 2009

I don’t mind working hard. In fact, sometimes I even like it. If it’s work I enjoy, that is.

But I always thought that hard work would pay off some day. And so I kept on working hard. In the beginning it was for other people. And then it was for myself, in my own businesses.

But then something changed in my thinking.

After reading and listening to the teachings of Abraham, I’ve realized that working hard isn’t what gets you closer to your dreams.

Not that there’s anything wrong with working hard.

However…

What’s more important than working hard, is how you’re feeling about what you’re doing. Are you enjoying yourself? Are you having fun? Or are you stressed out, missing your friends and family and feeling miserable?

You see, it’s all about the energy behind the action. If you’re pulling an all-nighter to complete a project and you’re hating your life, you might as well get a good night sleep and skip the all-nighter. You’d do much better asking yourself, what would make me feel happy right now?

Perhaps you can take a break, do what would help you feel better or give you some relief from your unhappiness (let’s hope it’s legal) and come back to the work afterward.

I’m not saying you have to go from miserable to happy. Abraham says all you have to do is go to a better feeling thought. Reach for a thought that gives you some relief.

So you don’t necessarily have to stop what you’re doing. If you can just find a better feeling thought, that will help you attract what you want.

Working hard and feeling miserable about it will only help you to attract more misery because you are focused on the miserableness of it all. You get what you focus on. That is the law of attraction in a nutshell.

It’s all about your thoughts. It’s all about your emotions.

So now, in my life and in my business,  if I’m in a lower vibration, or feeling grumpy, down or pessimistic (which never, ever really happens to me, right?), I realize that I’d be much better off doing whatever I can to feel better, to raise my vibration than continuing the “work”.

Now, I actually stop working and meditate, take a walk, do some breathing exercises, have a date with my husband (perks of both working at home), or just think of some better feeling thoughts.

(Sometimes I wonder, this is crazy. I’m taking time off when I have so much to do. But I now know what I did not know before. Feeling better is THE MOST important thing you can do. If you really want to manifest your dreams, then make feeling better emotionally your priority. I’m not saying quit your job and forget your responsibilities. Or go surfing or hang out in the bar drinking all night because that’s what makes you happy. But do what you can to feel better. I am in a position now, where I can take that break if I need it, when I need it because I work for myself now. In other words, do what you need to do to have better thoughts. Better thoughts create better feelings. Better feelings create better futures!)

I remember having a conversation with a friend when I was in sales. We both agreed, if we were in a bad mood, we should NOT try to make sales calls. It would be a total waste of time! (Sure, tell my boss that, you say. I know. I had lots of jobs where I had to perform whether I was in a good mood or not. So reach for better feelings thoughts. Train yourself. And the better it gets, the better it gets. We’re talking gradual progression here, not giant leaps and bounds…although that can happen too. Baby steps are sometimes all we can take and that’s ok!)

You’ve got to feel the good energy. Get the vibes flowing. Feel happy.

Sometimes, if I’ve got some negativity swirling around me, certain actions can get me feeling better, that’s true. Just the act of writing this blog is raising my vibration. Because I’m doing something I love to do: Writing about The Law of Attraction.

Whatever you can do to raise your vibration is going to attract things to you that make you happy.

Abraham says that the actions are part of the journey. The actions you take are the fun part. It’s what you came to this physical reality to experience. To enjoy the journey, the path, the adventure.

If you knew everything that was going to happen before it happened, it wouldn’t be an adventure, right?

It’s so amazing to me, this idea that it’s not about the action.

That’s why if you take two people who are starting the same exact business who are taking the same exact actions, they both can get dramatically different results. That’s because their energy is different.

So here’s the thing: Action is not what helps you manifest wealth or whatever else you want to manifest. Deliberate creation is NOT about the actions you take.

It’s about the thoughts you think.

The secret of the law of attraction is about your thoughts.

Let me say that again…action is not what creates. It’s energy that creates! Thoughts that create! Emotions that create! The action is just the part where you get to enjoy the journey. The doingness of it all is the F-U-N of it all.

That’s why it makes no sense to keep on plugging along on your dream when you don’t F-E-E-L  G-O-O-D. Work on feeling better, and you will get closer to your dreams.

Take the actions that feel good.
